State Senator Michele Hoitenga, a Republican representing Manton, Michigan, has expressed concern over the state's economic outlook following Governor Gretchen Whitmer's recent State of the State address. In a statement released on Wednesday, Senator Hoitenga criticized the lack of bipartisanship in Michigan and accused Governor Whitmer of favoring areas controlled by Democrats.

According to Senator Hoitenga, "Of the 342 projects in the state's most recent budget, nearly 90% of the money was sent to areas controlled by Democrats." She further claimed that while the governor allocates funds to her corporate donors, Michigan's infrastructure and small businesses continue to deteriorate.

The senator pointed out that Michigan is experiencing challenges in various aspects, including high unemployment rates, lack of transparency, and low median income. She argued that salary increases are being eroded by inflation, and jobs are being threatened, particularly in Northern Michigan, due to what she referred to as "Democrats' radical policies - packed with harmful mandates - becoming law."

Moreover, Senator Hoitenga expressed her concern about the state's struggle for population growth, as many residents are leaving in search of better opportunities elsewhere. She emphasized the need for the elected leaders in Lansing to do more for the people of Michigan. Senator Hoitenga pledged to continue fighting against any policies that could harm her constituents in the 36th District and the state as a whole.

Michigan continues to grapple with economic challenges, and Senator Hoitenga's concerns shed light on the impact of partisan agendas on the state's well-being. As the state seeks to address issues such as unemployment and income inequality, it remains to be seen how elected officials will work towards a more inclusive and prosperous Michigan.
